Meet Ben, our English assistant…


Benjamin has one brother, Thomas, who is 19 years old and wants to be a chef in the future. Their parents’ names are Richard and Rachel. They are respectively 53 and 50 years old. His mother is a lawyer and his father is a financial advisor. He also has a lot of cousins.

Ben has 3 French friends called Mathilde, Marie and Anouk. They are from Bordeaux. While studying in Portugal, Ben made other friends and he of course has a lot in England.

Currently, he is single and doesn’t intend to have kids.

What kind of studies have you done ? I did 3 years of undergraduate and English literature.

Which university did you go to ? I studied in Southampton, in London and in Paris

Why did you do your studies in Paris ? I was on a foreign exchange program studying film masters.

What job would you like to do later ? I would like to be a language teacher or a translator.

How do your friends describe you ? My friends describe me as a quiet and reserved person

Tell us what you like about your physical appearance… The thing that I like best about myself is my hair

Tell us what you detest about your physsical appearance… The thing I like the least about myself is my height. I wish I was taller

What are your 2 most important flaws ? I can only concentrate on one thing at a time and I spend my money too easily.

What are your 2 most important qualities ? I am very caring with people I love and I am inquisitive/curious

Can you describe yourself in 3 words ? I am outgoing, clever and down-to-earth

What is your favourite sport and why ? My favourite sport to watch is probably football and the sport I prefer to play is squash. I like football because all my friends watch it too.

What is the sport you hate the most ? I hate baseball because it’s too slow and boring.

How long have you been doing sport ? I have been doing sport since I was about 10 years old.

What do you do for fun ? To have fun, I see my friends and we wtach a good film.

What is your favourite TV programme ? I think it is the series « Breaking Bad ». I watch it on Netflix. It’s so good !

What is oyur favourite food ? and your favourite drink ? I just love everyting that is Mexican, like burritos, guacamole… and my favourite drink is definitely Redbull !

Which type of music do you listen to ? My favourite type of music is Grime music. It’s a sort of English rap.

Who are your favoutite bands ? My favourite band is Pink Floyd and my favourite album is « Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band » by the Beatles.

When you are bored, what do you do ? When I am bored, I go running, it wakes me up !

What is the best thing you prefer to do in the world ? I love being on the beach next to the sea, drinking a cocktail…

His favourite movie is « Good Fellas » because he finds it hilarious

His favourite song is « the Immigrant Song » by Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin were an English Rock band formed in London in 1968. The group consisted of vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist /keyboardist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham.

His favourite animal is a red panda because he finds them cute

What is your favourite country? My favourite country is Portugal. I love the food, the people, the patrimony. The country I like the least however is the USA because it is too different from Europe.

When you travel, what do you like the most/the least? I don’t like it when I have a problem in the country. My worst experience was in Egypt because I was very sick.

How many times did you travel in your life? I have been to about 20 countries. I loved Japan, for the food and Prague for its old buildings, it’s a very beautiful city.

Where do you want to travel in the future? I would like to go to an Asian country next, probably Thailand.

What is the biggest difference between France and England? I love France, its culture, its Mediterranean rhythm, life goes at a “slower” pace. France is more relaxed than England but Sundays are really “dead”. I also love the language and the weather is great too, compared to England where it rains all the time.
